In the day-to-day life at Poatek, it is common to face many different challenges. Our projects include different aspects as understanding each client’s reality and structuring a detailed work plan to deliveries that directly contribute to the development of each business.
In order for all of this to happen and for us to continue delivering top-quality software for companies all over the world, it is essential to have a highly qualified team. In this blog post, we invite you to discover more about our team and what it is like to be a software engineer here at Poatek through the speech of the poatekers Juliana Brondani and Juliano Gonçalves!
Juliana holds a Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering and a master’s degree in electrical engineering with a focus on automation from UFRGS. She said that her interest in the field started still during high school when she ended up having an injury and started to spend more time in front of the computer. It was at that moment that she discovered more about the technology universe, through games.
“I chose this area because I ended up being fascinated by electronic games and also because I thought it would be an area where I would have good opportunities”.
Juliana met Poatek through a former co-worker and defines that being a software engineer here is challenging but rewarding.
“We feel that we are a fundamental part of the work we deliver and that feeling that we make a difference in the process of building a product or service is very good.”
The Poateker mentioned that what she likes the most in the company is the confidence that Poatek places in its employees, as there is autonomy for professionals to make decisions that will make their day more flexible and easier. In her words: “We have the freedom to make decisions and to make the way we work more flexible. This creates a more agile environment that allows the programmer to build a better relationship between his personal and professional life”.
Juliano has been working in the IT area since 2010 and there were several reasons that led him to be a professional in the technology field. Since he was a teenager, he had exhibited an affinity with exact sciences in general, and always liked to explore computer functionality, as well as he has always been passionate about computer games.
“I believed that working with software development would be a good fit for me, considering the requirements of logical reasoning and abstraction of problems that the area demands.”
Juliano also got to know Poatek through former colleagues and, since then, he has been observing the company’s growth from a distance. As soon as Juliano joined our team as a software engineer, he already had the autonomy to work on the projects and spread knowledge with other developers, since the technical level and maturity of the team allows this exchange. For him: “It is very clear that the diversity of customers and scopes is huge, allowing almost any developer to contribute in at least some part and feel personal and professionally satisfied”.
He also shared that there are two major challenges encountered here, the first of which is a direct interaction with the clients, something that is encouraged in the company and that in many places is usually centered on a “product owner”. The second major challenge can be seen as a consequence of the first: responsibility. All members at once are co-responsible for all activities of the projects.
When asked what he likes most about Poatek, our software engineer was straightforward: “What has made the most difference for me is the ease of access to anyone in the company, especially managers, and being able to talk to them on an equal footing.”
This type of environment helps the company to grow in a healthy way without competing with other interests.
